Guys…

Hello Team 16! Looking forward to your instruction and product design. There is very little time left, we are worried that we will not have time to make a cool video and a high-quality layout.

Final product

We offer the final version of the product.

The game has two parts. The first is the game itself with chips and cards. The second part is the site where the final journey is generated.
To demonstrate the action of our game, we have developed one direction. A string of numbers for the example acts on the site, type them on the site and click OK.
Each number corresponds to an answer to a question of the same color.

Feedback from Team 7

Hey, guys!
We really like your product “Joy candle”. It looks very interesting and atmospheric. We liked the idea of projecting photos// using photo frames. We think this is what we need. We are looking forward to the final version with 3D model & user product interaction. You’re cool!

Comments on concepts from Team 7

Hello, Team 16!
We liked your second idea. Sounds really good! We would like to see a detailed description of the subject (How does it work? Where are the photos projected from? Which part of the candle rotates? Is this an electronic candle? How do the petals of the “rose shape” function? Where are they going?)

We think it will be very cool! Thanks for the work šŸ™‚

The more detailed description of the concept

The goal of the game.

This game serves as an assistant for planning a trip. The game was made for a couple or for a group of friends. Since the interests and personal preferences of all participants of the trip may be different, the game will help to find a compromise and make the trip interesting for everyone.

Rules of the game.

Maximum number of players: 4

When assembling the playing field, which consists of three layers, players will have to place the walls of the “invisible maze” on the second layer of the game. This can be done randomly. After the layer with the “invisible walls” is covered with the final layer, the playing field should be rotated so that participants cannot restore the maze plan from memory.

It is necessary to place chips with goals on the cells of the upper field. This can be done randomly or according to one of the plans that will be offered in the instructions.

Each game figure is located at the corners of the playing field. It can walk forward, backward and sideways. If, when moving the figure through the cells, you come across an “invisible wall, the magnet under the field falls and you have to return to the previous cell.

The player who gets to the chip with the goal first wins the round. The picture on the chip is responsible for the theme of the round. The topic will be spelled out in the instructions. Thus, the winner of the round makes a choice on the topic of this round (for example: rest will be active or quiet, live in a hotel or in a private apartment, etc.). Thus, by the end of the game, a list of criteria from each participant will be collected, from which the final trip will eventually be formed.

After all the chips on the field are collected and the players will have a list of criteria for the trip, they will need to be registered in the table attached to the game. Moving from point to point in this table, participants will receive a list of places to travel that will meet their set of criteria.

Additional features

The game can provide two additional decks of cards: cards with tasks and cards with rewards. If a player stumbles upon an invisible wall and his magnet falls, he is invited to complete a task from a deck of cards at will. If he completes it correctly, he gets a reward card. He can use this award himself or try to exchange it with the winner of the previous round if he wants to change one of the criteria for a future trip.

A QR code with a link to the resort’s website can be attached to each place. In this case, the game should have an update every six months in the form of a table of QR codes so that the links remain relevant. To update the list of links, you do not need to buy a new game set. It is enough to download a new table of QR codes.

I tried to describe the course of the game in more detail and answer your questions :))

  • Game method:
    1. Before you is a game board with a disc. The disc is divided into radial rings. Each ring has a different color and matches a question on the question sheet. The first circle, closer to the center, is the answer to the first question from the sheet, which concerns the budget, choosing the answer to it, the player turns the first ring with the selected number so that it falls into a special field that passes through all the rings. The player then answers the following questions in order. After answering all the questions, a line of numbers will appear on the playground. This line means the number of the card, which describes the journey that the player received in the process of answering the questions.
  • 2. In the second variant, the player sets the arrow in the center of the disc and he does not answer each question himself, but turns the arrow, which will indicate the number on the circle. This way of playing will always be unexpected for the player himself. If necessary, the player himself can indicate the level of the travel budget.

Team 7 has some questions :)

Hey, guys!

We started working on game concepts, and we had some questions. Could you tell us more about your parents? What do they like to do besides traveling? How do they usually relax? Where do they prefer to go? Do they like outdoor activities?

So, weā€™d like to know more about Turkish cultural board games. We have got very little information about them.

And are you sure that such a game will make your parents happier? Maybe we should also offer you unique devices and items that will help make your parentsā€™ vacation more enjoyable?

Looking forward to hearing back! We really want to get to know your culture better!

This is me! -Melis Ercan

Hello, my name is Melis Ercan. I am Turkish and I am a junior Industrial Design student at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. I live in Ankara with my family. I am 22 years old.

I like to draw in my free time, I prefer sketching or acyrilic painting. Drawing makes me feel free and creative. I am not good at expressing my feelings by words, and this is why I love drawing so much. Also, I play quiddicth at METUā€™s team, ODTƜ Hippogriffs. I like quidditch but I love my teammates more, thatā€™s way I keep playing.

Actually I am not sure what I want to be. I love my department and I am considering becoming a product designer. However, I am curious about graphic design too. I love working on Adobe Photoshop, but I know that graphic design is not all about Photoshop. I hope I will decide soon šŸ˜€

Here some photos I love:

This is me! – Aya Talhi

Hello! My name is Aya Talhi. I am a final year Industrial design student at Middle east technical university in Ankara, Turkey.

A little about me,
I am an international student from Algeria. I speak five languages and currently learning my 6th language. I love meeting new people and hearing their side of the earth story.
my location,
This year is my 5th in Turkey. Currently, residing in METU dorms, on campus. Our campus occupies a large area of the city. It is located in the heart of a large and mesmerizing forest that includes two lakes.
Turkey is a beautiful country. I have visited more than 20 big cities and around 50 villages. This country never fails in inspiring me with its rich culture, fascinating nature, and welcoming people.

Coming to my field of study,
I consider Industrial Design a vast ocean, and I’m a sailor. I started this journey towards my destination: I want to become an Industrial Product designer! I stop in different bays & islands to equip myself with the necessary knowledge and skills. I am highly interested in 3D design (Solid Modeling; Wireframe Modeling & Surface Modeling). I enjoy working on UI design projects too.

Hello everyone. This is our brief

We apologize for the late submission of the brief. This week was fruitful, we managed to conduct a survey of our mothers, identify problems and find out what happiness means for our mothers.

This is me!

Hi, Iā€™m Fatih Paksoy, Iā€™m Turkish, and Iā€™m studying at Middle East Technical University in Turkey. Now Iā€™m a 3rd year Industrial Design student in my faculty.

I live in Ankara, which is the capital of our country. My best friend and I spend most of our time exploring the places that we have never visited in the city, and these trips are inspirational for us to create more. We create visual and audio content from the memories that we collect on these trips. He is a director, so we combine our abilities to create more complex projects. Our favorite place is the METU campus in Ankara. We love the nature of our school campus.

I love working on digital audio workstations to create electronic music, and I am trying to combine design and music in my life. So, I generally work on album coversmotion graphics, and audio-based graphic projects.

I worked with different communities in Turkey. I was a board member for three years in METU Design Community. Also, I was a student representative in stuDesigners Community for a year. I didn’t continue to work with these communities because I started to work in an industrial design studio. In my 3rd year, I spend most of my time in this design office.

I want to work on audio-based product design projects such as speakers, earphones, and electronic music devices. I love Marshall, Line 6, JBL, Fender as brands from this product group.
