Final Project | Solution
We invite you to meet the Bassi.
Our project aims at solving the presented problem by inviting the tourists to dive deep into the Napolean culture. By working with visual solutions we allow the elderly to comunicate without worring about the language barrier. We want them to be main charcaters in the narrative, also respecting their privacy.
Our clients presented some tradicional places in the Bassi that are often overlooked by the tourists, and we developed a booklet to guide them trough these places. When the tourists complete the “tour” they will have a beautiful souvenir of their trip to Napoli.
Let’s break it down:
At the begining of each Bassi there wil be an introduction poster and QR code. There, you will find some key words to comunicate with the locals and your booklet, a gift from the city to the visitors.
The booklet will have 4 locations, and in order to complete the image you shall visit them all. At each place there will be a different color stamp. When put together, the final image will appear.
Alongside, when walking inside the Bassi you will find stickers in some of the houses. Those mean that the person living there is comfortable with you visiting and questioning. Each house will also have an exclusive stamp. And only the elderly can give it to you. So remember to be nice.
We guarantee that you will remember your trip to Napoli forever!

Our project is inspired in the Osaka Stamps. To understand better, here is the reference we used: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMhErpeS7/
Suggestions | Italy to Brazil
After reviewing the three ideas and receiving your final draft, which beautifully combines elements from each proposed concept into one cohesive vision, we have one final request. In order to work on the prototyping phase, we ask you to develop for the finalized concept a visual identity and a detailed technical drawing about:
- The document accessed via the QR code
- The QR code itself
- The stamps
- The booklet where the stamps will be applied
- The sticker indicating the elderly person’s willingness to interact with tourists, share their stories, and apply the stamp.
Solutions Feedback | Italy to Brazil
It is important to us to clarify that we encountered difficulty in fully understanding the proposed solutions, as they seemed disconnected from the identified problem and lacked depth in their reasoning. As a result, our team questioned the completeness of the presentation of our concept brief.
First of all, we don’t believe the idea of a fair is appropriate since the bassi (traditional ground-floor apartments) don’t represent just a single neighborhood but rather a historic and typical type of housing found in several districts of Naples.
We also disagree with the proposal of a fanzine, as it seems too scattered for a passing tourist.
Anyway, we believe that the idea of using a QR code could be a good starting point that could be implemented and developed in more detail to ensure it aligns with the design problem.
Below we suggest some recommendations for implementing this solution:
1. Stickers featuring the QR code could be placed outside the bassi, for example in the Quartieri Spagnoli, one of the most central and famous neighborhoods in Naples;
2. The selection of which bassi to display the stickers on would be determined after a sign-up campaign among the neighborhood residents;
3. The QR code could contain two sections: the first would outline the rules of good conduct tourists should follow (e.g. not peering inside the bassi); the second section would feature a map showing the locations of the participating bassi and other places worth visiting, as recommended by the local residents.
We are open to any additional suggestions you may have and hope that these ideas are helpful rather than a obstacle in bringing this inspiring project to life!

1 – Cultural Fair
The idea is to promote a cultural fair in the Bassi, where the locals could share their customs and history. It would be promotional posters in the entrance of the Bassi, raising awareness of how visitor should respect and treat the residents, recommending that they should ask to take pictures and try to communicate with those who live there.
The idea is to spread de culture of the residents of the Bassi, their crafts, hobbies and their favorite places in the city. There would be QR codes to facilitate the comunication, where the tourists could read about the locals and the Bassi. This way they would learn about the culture without spying on the elders house.
2 – Recommendations Guide by Naples Residents
A tourist guide with the neapolitans recommendations of the best places to go in the city. It would be a flyer or zine full of recommendations of the Bassi residents. The way to acquire it would be asking them in the entrance of the Bassi and talking to a person flagged as the sender. The guide also would have some texts about local history and culture. It’s a way to show that Napoli is more than the “Maradona city“.
3 – Collectable album
An album to collect images and cards of the city residents’ favorite places, an immersion in local culture. The tourists would enter the Bassi and talk to the residents, asking for recommendations or cultural storyes to get a card, sticker or stamp (if the residents think the person deserves). The idea of the stamps is that it would be overlapping parts of an image, when they get all parts, an illustration of the Bassi or the city appears. A beautiful souvenir to remember the trip.
Our solutions is inspired in the Japanese stamps.

Raquel Bonini
I´m 19 years old, recently turned in September. I’m a Virgo!

I was born in Porto Alegre, but moved to São Paulo as a 2 year old baby. I was raised there, so part of my culture is different. But I later returned to the south, to be closer with my extended family. Now I love it here.
I would say I’m a fan of new experiences, I love trying new things and collecting memories. I like going out with my friend, playing games (and winning), trying new recipes, reading and spending time with my boyfriend. I also have a cute dog, actually an old lady of 12 years, called Lily.

I´m also a huge fan of sleeping, and I believe it’s a sacred time haha. My biggest talent is sleeping at parties, or at concerts (at any place one wouldn’t normally sleep)
My greatest hobby is cinema. I studied acting for 5 years, and have been in some small roles at shows and propagandas. I love the art and the creativity of creation!

And Clifford, my second favorite being and my little red dog. He was adopted by my grandmother, he’s around 8 years old and very shy.

My family is huge, both on my father’s and my mother’s side, and we are really close to each other. They are everything to me, as are my close friends.

When I’m with my friends I love going to coffee shops, to the cinema, to karaokes and to geek events! I enjoy visiting huge gardens, because they remind me of my grandma, so when I travel with my mom our favorite thing is to visit places full of flowers.
Berga´s
We are the group Berga´s, from the south of Brazil. We are Visual Design students of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, located in the city of Porto Alegre, capital of the state.
We are really excited to work with you all!

We chose Berga´s as our name because “Bergamota” is the most typical fruit from our region. You might know it as Tangerine. Fun fact: there is discussion here in Brazil about what the fruit is called, because it has 5 names around the country. IT IS BERGAMOTA.
