Game process and specific details

First, we need to be grouped together by drawing lots

The first group drawn by drawing lots will experience the map

Then we started the whole game process: as you can see, we designed five very different maps as a demonstration of equal scaling down, with a real map size of 3 meters by 4 meters, so that all the members of the group could stand and play on the maps!

The second group drawn by drawing lots will experience the map

The third group drawn by drawing lots will experience the map

The fourth group drawn by drawing lots will experience the map

The fifth group drawn by drawing lots will experience the map

Players rely on homemade dice props to determine the number of steps to move.

The entire map we designed eight different styles of mini-games, each game is simple and easy to get started, a single game time control in 3-5 minutes!

These are our action tokens. When a group completes a trivia game, they will win an action token as a reward!

After our play and calculations, the time to complete all eight games is manageable at 27-36 minutes!

Warm tips: players in the process of throwing dice if the throw to the number of steps after the mini-game, players need to complete the mini-game and then move to the target grid

When the player has completed all the games, the end point is reached and the game process is over

At the end of the five group process, we will compare the number of action tokens for each group, and the group with the highest number will each receive a badge as a reward and memento of the event!

Making Collaboration Easy: Scheduling and Communication Tips for All Teams

We are Team 12, and we’ve been paired with Team 01. We are happy to be a part of this group! Based on our experience during the pairing process until now, we would like to share a few things we’ve implemented so far, which we believe could be beneficial for others.

To identify common availability for meetings, we first created a weekly schedule on Canva in our time zone (GMT+3). Then, we adjusted this schedule to align with our paired team’s time zone (GMT+8). Afterwards, we shared the schedule we created in our own team blog. It eased the decision process pretty much. If you’re having difficulty finding shared time slots, we recommend this approach.

Additionally, to overcome language barriers and simplify communication, we’ve started using WeChat based on Team 01’s recommendation. The app’s feature to translate any text into your desired language with just a few taps has greatly facilitated our conversations.

We hope these tips are helpful!

BIO: Garazi Navarro Ugidos

My name is Garazi Navarro Ugidos, and I am a student of Industrial Design and Product Development Engineering at TECNUN (University of Navarra), located in the city of San Sebastián (Donostia), Spain. San Sebastián is a beautiful city in the north of Spain, renowned for its incredible gastronomy and rich culture. The city offers many lively celebrations, such as the Tamborrada, held on January 20th. However, I live in Lasarte-Oria, a small town just 15 minutes from Donostia by car. While it’s not as large as San Sebastián, it is a great place to grow up due to its friendly atmosphere and sense of security. Living here in the Basque Country has also given me the opportunity to learn one of the most beautiful languages in the world: Basque. In addition to Basque, I also speak Spanish and English.

My hobbies include playing basketball and traveling. I have been involved in sports since I was a child, and I continue to play basketball for Easo, a club in Donostia where I’ve been a member since I was eight years old. I currently compete in Spain’s first national league, which is the fourth tier of Spanish basketball. Playing basketball is my refuge space where I can relax and recharge. Additionally, I have a deep love for traveling, as it allows me to immerse myself in different cultures and broaden my perspective on life. One of my biggest dreams is to travel the world with my family, as I am a very family-oriented person and enjoy spending quality time with them.

I will graduate in 2025, but I am excited to continue learning beyond university. I would like to find a company where I can start my professional career. I am open to working in Spain or abroad, as I’ve always been eager to experience living in other countries. I have a passion for creativity, innovation, and designing solutions that help people. Creating something that can positively impact someone’s life has always been a dream of mine. I have a particular interest in biomedical products due to my long-standing desire to contribute to the healthcare field. Additionally, I am very interested in the intersection of artificial intelligence and design, and I am eager to explore how AI can be integrated into innovative solutions.

I am also thrilled to be part of the Global Design Studio. Sarah, Emma, and I are eager to start working on developing a solution for a country like China. The cultural differences inspire us to think outside the box and foster personal growth. We believe that working in a culturally diverse environment not only challenges us to approach problems from fresh perspectives but also helps us build adaptable, globally relevant solutions. This opportunity allows us to expand our creative horizons and collaborate in ways that push the boundaries of design and innovation. We are excited to dive into this experience, knowing it will be a significant step in our personal and professional development.

Task | Client’s Project Briefs

Due Tuesday 15 October 2024

We expect the teams in their roles as clients to talk to their specific family members such as grandparents who will form the intended “users”, take photos, drawings, and discover their unique practices which their daily lives.

To develop the client project brief. Each client team will need to summarise their analysis through visual materials such as storyboards or short movies or comics or animations. These visual materials are intended to provide your allocated design teams to become familiar with your selected users’ day to day practices and to guide their future design explorations.

Thus, you, as the local cultural expert on your selected users’ practices will need to support and guide your designers during the project.

Finally, we will expect the client teams to make informal user tests with the users who informed the initial briefs and include these moments in their concluding videos and evaluations.

Important NOTE: Post your Client Project Briefs on your allocated designers’ teams project site.
