Hey there! My name is Nevra Bahar Hasgüvenç, I go by Nevra. The name “Nevra” has lots of meanings in different languages, and here are a few I’ve gathered so far: light, goddess of the sun, bright (in Turkish); brightness (in Persian); light, white flower that blooms in spring (in Arabic) — which is pretty interesting because my middle name Bahar means spring! It also means anger in Greek, but I don’t think I have any connection to anger… Just joking! I’m definitely the calmest person, I promise! If “Nevra” has a meaning in your language, please let me know so I can expand my dictionary.

I’m currently a 3rd-year Industrial Design student at METU (Middle East Technical University). I initially studied Civil Engineering, but I realized that it didn’t align with my vision for my future self. After doing some research, I discovered Industrial Design and fell in love with it. I’m 23 years old, and my birthday is March 27, 2001.

I’m currently studying at METU, which is located in Ankara. METU’s campus feels like a holiday resort, at least for those who have enough time to enjoy it! With my busy schedule, I rarely get to explore all its beauty, but I absolutely love my school. I’ll share a few pictures of the campus soon for you to see how wonderful it is.
Here are some photos from our Architecture Faculty!:

A few photos with friends!

Most of my time on campus is spent in the study room of the dorm, which has become my go-to spot. It’s not just where I work, but also where I like to hide away, giving me some quiet time to focus and recharge. (This is me in the messy! study room 😀 )

In my free time, I love to sew, paint, and sing, although the singing is purely amateur. As for my future, I’m hoping to continue my academic career, but I’m also interested in gaining experience in different industries, which makes me feel excited and a bit indecisive.
I also really like to cook! Trying new dishes makes me quite happy, if you have any recommendations be sure that I’ll be trying the recipes you’ll send to me soon and send you pictures!

As for my strong skills, I would say my ability to learn quickly and adapt to new environments is one of my key strengths.
When it comes to books, my current favorite is a Turkish novel called Pir-i Lezzet, a historical fiction centered around gastronomy. I definitely love foods, both making and eating! My favorite film is The Fall by Tarsem Singh, and when it comes to TV series, I’m torn between Good Omens and Fringe.

Fun fact: I am in love with cats but I have allergies to them. Life is hard.
Here are the pics of some of the cats that we feed in our backyard in the summerhouse of my family!

Looking forward to connecting with all of you!

Hello, Nevra, my name is Fuyuan. 😉Congratulations on finding your favorite major and resolutely studying industrial design. I am very glad to meet you here. Haha, seeing your self-introduction, I feel that you are an optimistic, cheerful and very interesting person. I can see that you like to be alone very much, and I also like to walk alone in the campus at night from time to time, I like the feeling of the cool evening breeze, the night is cool and quiet, there is the sound of leaves rubbing, there are insects from time to time, and if I am lucky, I will meet a small cat. I also like small animals, and I feel very sorry to see that you are allergic to cats😔. Look forward to cooperating with you.
Hello Fuyuan, can you please help Yirui to setup a picture (avatar) in her profile?
thank you, Erik
PS I very much like the way you are engaging with your collaborators! It is nice to see you and your team member actively connecting with your allocated collaborators.
Hey Fuyuan! Thank you very much for your kind comment. That’s really nice to see that we are sharing common things in our lives. I am really curious about what your campus looks like in the nighttime. Do you have any pictures that you might want to share? I am also very sorry that I am allergic to cats but anyhow love does not know distances haha 😀 I love them with my eyes, or sometimes I cannot stop myself and start to pet them and sneeze 😀
Your name sounds great (although I’m not sure how to pronounce it), and I think anger can also be understood as passion, just like the passion of seeds for sunlight in spring when everything comes back to life, which requires the “anger” to break out of the soil. As for thinking about the future, there is a popular saying in China that says’ whose youth is not lost ‘. I believe that living in the present, living every day with dedication, and doing what we love to do are what we always need to persist in. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your life and work, as well as your handmade crafts that I am very interested in.
I tried to find a video which is showcasing the pronunciation of my name: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKCqvvc0dxI , I’ll be telling it when we meet soon as well! Thank you so much for your poetic comment, you warmed my heart. You created a great story for my name which felt pretty special. I liked the saying “youth is not lost”, can you teach me how to say it in Chinese as well? I’m looking forward to meeting you more!
Hey there! I updated my bio with new photos!
