Finalize of the Chimarrão Project
Chimarrão is a hot, culturally significant drink from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, made by brewing powdered maté leaves with hot water. Traditionally, it’s served in a gourd called a cuia and consumed through a metal straw known as a bomba, symbolizing community and tradition. In our design, we propose a solution that combines functionality and tradition: a thermos to keep the water hot, a compartment to store maté powder, and a brewing section that connects seamlessly through a rotating mechanism with a lid. Additionally, the bomba straw can double as a handle, enhancing convenience and portability. Our design is made of stainless steel and offers two different design options. One is wood coated and the other is pure metallic without any intervention to make it more natural.
