We had our first official meeting with our paired team last Friday – Team 24 ‘Communicology Designer Team’, where we discussed our briefs and clarified any confusions and concerns about our proposed projects. We discussed how we will approach the given problem (i.e. creating cultural and sensory therapy for seniors with Alzheimer’s) in regards to the type and scope of industrial design (urban space design, ui/ux design, product design, product-service system design, interactive design, etc.), as we were confused about how exactly we need to approach the solution.
After discussing, we have decided to design a product-service system for the given problem. We requested our paired team to refine their brief and add further information about their culture and the kind of activities that they are already doing for these seniors, so we can develop ideas about our initial solutions.
We also have a WhatsApp group where we communicate from time to time about our meeting times and general inquiries about the projects. In our recent exchange after the zoom meeting, the other team asked us if they prefer a large table or a mobile dish-storage solution, given practical issues with a big table. We suggested thinking beyond traditional tables, focusing on a design that supports cultural values and aesthetics.
We have also agreed to meet again on the upcoming Friday, 8th Nov 2024, to talk about our initial ideas and sketches.
