Hello everyone! I’m Ilayda, from Ankara, Turkey. I’m an Industrial Design student at METU.

I love to lose myself in the world of fantasy through both books and movies, Percy Jackson and Lord of the Rings being among my favorites which is very interesting even they are in the same genre still their storytelling is incredibly different. These books and movies have developed my imagination and sparked my interest in storytelling. I enjoy exploring complex worlds, characters and narratives and this inspires my dream of one day working in film. Another thing that I love is camping. Camping takes me away from the stress of the world for a short time and allows me to renew myself. Although I am not very effective in hiking :’), it is definitely a very peaceful activity for me.

I guess my ultimate goal is to create films that captivate audiences and carry them to new places, just like the stories that inspire me. Seeing people enjoying what I do and seeing the emotions on their faces makes me very enthusiastic.
The project that I love the most was the final project of the fall semester in the first year. It was a project about ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. I enjoyed the process and the result immensely. The process was quite creative. In addition, the fact that the subject we were working on was very aesthetically beautiful took the design process to a very different dimension.
My favorite place on campus might be the red armchairs in the library. As architecture students, we rarely use it, but it is a place that relaxes and entertains me. Especially in winter because it is very well heated (unfortunately, the studios are usually very cold), I often stop by to relax. The view directly overlooks the forest and it is an incredibly quiet place. It is a very convenient place to read a book, relax or sleep.

Hello Ilayda, I have very much enjoyed reading your introduction!
Do you read the Lord of the Rings in Turkish or in English?
Erik
Hi Eric, thank you for your nice words! I read Lord of the Rings in Turkish. I would also like to read them in English, but there is a nice aspect that these books were originally my uncle’s. He also read them in his time, so the books are quite old and the pages are yellowed just like I like them. I think it looks quite aesthetic for such fantastic books.
Hello Ilayda, I very much liked how you have introduced your University campus by sharing your hideaway spot in the library.
I like your accompanying photos. At least I assume the photos are your, is my assumption correct?
Erik
Hello Eric, yes first one is mine, I just cropped the extra parts (my friends were in there), but I have to say that I got the second one from internet. :’)
