We tried to show the steps and size of the cup with some self-made model pictures, as well as the size display of the bag model next to the cup to tell the user how many things we can hold. This allows our users to experience the product better.
This is the size and use of a small cloth bag.
We use a cardboard shell to simulate the cloth bag separately, so that we can better understand it, which is about 10-15 cm high.
Its function is to hold candy, because Russian tea likes to put sugar in it. According to what we looked up, they like to put sugar cubes in it. But we didn’t have a sugar cube, so we used coconut sugar about the same size instead.
There is almost 8 pieces of candy in it.

Of course, the appearance of our products is some traditional Chinese patterns, so this cup is only a reference for the comparison size.
Our product: Our product is currently in the modeling and rendering stage, and we are also considering whether to add other interactive functions besides the appearance design, such as sensor technology and voice recognition functions, to remind customers when they can’t find things or need to add water and sugar. We will provide more detailed pictures and ideas later to help customers better understand our ideas and refine our design.
After intense discussions among the 18 groups, they presented to us their final plan, which was Yanping’s second design concept. They expressed appreciation for the shape of the thermal flask and said that their target customers liked this style of cup.
I. Appearance Design
Overall Style:
Following the traditional Chinese blue and white porcelain style, the overall appearance presents a rustic, elegant and highly oriental aesthetic. The style of the cup sleeve can be designed with some Russian elements. The pattern color is gold, which complements the leather texture.
Details of the Cup Sleeve and Magnetic Pouch:
The design of the cup sleeve still pays attention to matching the style of the cup body. Soft, light-colored and traditional Chinese patterns are selected, such as plain silk with hidden patterns or plain linen with simple geometric patterns. There may be some exquisite hand-embroidery elements on the surface of the cup sleeve, such as small plum blossom embroidery or simple Chinese auspicious character embroidery, to further enhance the overall Chinese style.
The magnetic pouch on the cup sleeve will have a traditional Chinese plate buckle design on the bag mouth, which is both beautiful and convenient to open and close. The surface of the bag may have some light printed patterns, such as delicate floral patterns or simple Chinese geometric patterns, making the overall appearance more refined and beautiful, and integrating with the Chinese style of the cup body and cup sleeve.
II. Function Design
Insulation Function:
The ceramic material itself has a relatively strong thermal conductivity, so in order to achieve good insulation effects, a high-efficiency vacuum insulation layer will be set inside the ceramic cup body. This vacuum insulation layer can effectively block heat conduction, allowing hot water to remain at a suitable temperature for a long time in the cup, so that customers can enjoy warm beverages at any time, whether it is in the cold Russian winter or during daily travel.
Multi-functional lid:
In order to increase the practicality of the insulated cup, a dual-function lid is designed. In daily life, people often have different drinking scenarios, and when they need to share beverages or drink a small amount of water alone, the lid can be designed to function as a separate drinking cup, which can meet this demand and also be convenient to carry, without the need to prepare an extra cup, thus improving the user’s convenience during use. The edge of the lid will be rounded for a comfortable drinking experience. At the same time, the sealing design of the lid and cup body is also critical, and a special rubber sealing component will be used to ensure that the lid is tightly closed when it covers the cup mouth, effectively preventing heat loss and spills, and ensuring the insulation effect and safety of the beverage.
Cup sleeve and magnetic suction pouch function:
Increasing the cup sleeve is not only to protect the insulated cup, but also to consider the customers’ eating habits by designing a magnetic suction pouch on the cup sleeve. Russians love candies and some snacks, and this small pouch can be convenient for them to store these snacks, so that they can easily obtain their favorite foods during travel, work, or leisure time.
III. Material Design
Body and lid materials:
The body and lid are made of high-quality ceramic materials. The ceramic used will have high purity, low density, and a fine texture to ensure that the body and lid form a uniform structure during firing, thus having good mechanical properties and are less prone to cracking, deformation, etc. The ceramic material itself also has the advantage of being non-toxic, odorless, and chemically stable, which can ensure the safety and hygiene of the beverage, allowing users to drink with peace of mind. In the selection of ceramic materials, reference will be made to the types of ceramic used in traditional blue and white porcelain production, such as kaolin ceramic, to try to restore the texture and flavor of traditional blue and white porcelain.
Cup sleeve and magnetic pouch materials:
The cup sleeve material, as mentioned earlier, can be selected from soft, light-colored fabrics with traditional Chinese patterns.
The magnetic pouch material is selected for waterproof, durable, and coordinated fabrics such as silk with a waterproof coating or thick linen. An internal magnetic device is set up, and the magnetic device uses high-strength, small-volume permanent magnets to ensure that the pouch can be firmly attached to the cup sleeve.
Overall Dimensions: 21cm x 6.5cm.
The overall shape of our final design is inspired by blue-and-white porcelain, as our client specifically requested designs with elements of blue-and-white porcelain. The cup lid can be detached and used as a tea cup for easy drinking. To make the thermos more portable when going out, we created a leather cup sleeve. This sleeve not only facilitates carrying but also provides protection. To meet the client’s need to carry sweets like sugar and cookies when going out for tea, we built a magnetic device into the cup sleeve that holds an external magnetic pouch for these items.
The gourd-shaped design skillfully blends traditional cultural elements, its unique contour giving a sense of smoothness and elegance, which easily evokes feelings of good fortune and wealth. The addition of vine handles further enriches the appearance of the product, as they naturally wrap around the contours of the gourd, adding liveliness and artistic appeal to the insulated cup, making it no longer monotonous, and also making it easier for users to carry.
Color Material Analysis:
Color: The white and blue combination in the blue and white porcelain pattern is fresh and elegant, enhanced by the accent of auspicious cloud patterns, which makes it look more ancient and grand. The blue patterns jump on the white background, giving the product a strong cultural atmosphere, while the auspicious cloud patterns add a meaning of good luck and fortune.
Materials: Based on the appearance, the cup body may be made of ceramic to perfectly showcase the texture and patterns of blue and white porcelain. The vine handle may be a plastic material with flexibility and strength, specially treated to simulate the appearance of vines. The inner lining material should be stainless steel to ensure good insulation performance and durability.
Xiaoyu：
In my third design sketch, the main material of the cup is ceramic, and the overall color is blue and white. The middle cup sleeve is painted with traditional Chinese auspicious clouds and pipa figures. There is a peony in full bloom in the center of the painting, scattered around the silk, etc., with Chinese classical beauty cup sets can choose to use artificial leather material.
Yanshu：
1.The overall shape design
Source of inspiration:
Ancient Chinese scrolls, which contain profound cultural heritage, are often closely associated with art forms such as calligraphy and painting, and are important symbols of traditional Chinese culture.
Outline:
The thermos cup is cylindrical as a whole, imitating the general shape of a scroll.
One end is designed in the shape of a slightly raised “reel head” that serves as the lid section. It can be used as a cup for drinking water. Its shape resembles the wooden or jade shaft heads at both ends of ancient scrolls, which are rounded and have a certain sense of refinement, giving people a simple and elegant feeling. The “reel head” at the other end is used to disassemble and dispense candy and biscuits.
2.Material selection
Cup body:
Double-layer stainless steel vacuum insulation structure to ensure excellent thermal insulation performance. The inner layer of stainless steel ensures the hygiene and safety of the drink, while the outer layer of stainless steel can be decorated to present traditional patterns such as moire and bouquets.
Decorative parts:
For the “reel head” part, you can choose to make it with a wooden material (such as mahogany, sandalwood, etc.), or you can apply a layer of varnish to the wooden surface to increase the gloss and protect the wood.
3.Color matching
The overall color is beige, which can well simulate the color of ancient scroll paper, creating a simple and elegant atmosphere.
Source of inspiration: Inspired by the traditional Chinese mortise and tenon structure, it is cleverly integrated into the shape design of the thermos cup to create a unique shape.
The shape of the main body: The thermos cup as a whole presents a hexagonal prism, and the edge of each side is designed into a slightly convex tenon or a concave hole shape, which is spliced and combined with each other, as if it is a delicate mortise and tenon handicraft.

The high-quality stainless steel material is used as the shell of the thermos cup, which has good thermal insulation performance, is durable and easy to clean, and can effectively protect the inner tank and maintain the temperature of the drink.
The whole can be selected with Chinese characteristics of mahogany, sandalwood and other high-quality wood, after fine polishing, showing the natural texture and warm texture of the wood.
3、Decorative details in Chinese style
Carved patterns: In the wooden decoration area, traditional Chinese patterns are carefully carved. For example, the auspicious moire is used as the main decorative element, winding along the edges of each side and the stitching, showing the continuity and agility of the moire.
Xiaoyu:
The second scheme I designed was based on the form of Russian matryoshka dolls. The outer teacups can be) two together, and inside they hold three layers of small teacups, one layer on top of the other. Traditional patterns of Chinese ceramics are painted on the outside, with traditional Chinese elements such as the national flower peony and auspicious clouds inside. Inside, I want to write some famous dynasties in ancient China, and then place them in chronological order.

The main pattern of the thermos cup is partly derived from the shape of the Boshan furnace.
The bottle body part: it presents a shape similar to the undulating peaks, with a number of staggered edges, just like the delicate mountain shape on the Boshan furnace, these ridge lines are smooth and layered, creating a fairyland-like artistic conception, fully showing the unique shape beauty and Chinese charm of the Boshan furnace.
The choice of materials
Shell material: The high-quality stainless steel material is selected as the shell of the thermos cup, which has good thermal insulation performance, durable and easy to clean, which can effectively protect the inner tank and maintain the temperature of the drink, and the gloss of stainless steel can also add a modern sense to the thermos cup, so that it can show the traditional charm of China without losing the fashionable atmosphere.
Decorative material: In the key parts of the thermos cup, such as the edge of the cup lid, the connection between the cup lid and the cup body, etc., wood materials are used for inlay or wrapping. High-quality woods such as mahogany and sandalwood with Chinese characteristics can be selected, which are finely polished to show the natural texture and warm texture of the wood, which is in sharp contrast with the stainless steel material to further enhance the charm of Chinese style.
Decorative details
Carved patterns: Carved traditional Chinese patterns. For example, with the auspicious moire as the main decorative element, the shape of the fairy mountain on the bottle body is also surrounded by moire, showing the continuity and agility of the moire.
Functional design
Heat preservation function: The advanced vacuum insulation technology is used to ensure that the inner tank can maintain the temperature of the drink for a long time. Whether it is hot water or cold drinks, it can maintain a suitable temperature for several hours, for example, hot water can still remain above 50°C after 6 hours, and cold drinks can be maintained below 10°C within 3 hours, to meet the daily drinking needs of users.
Handle design: At the top of the thermos cup, a foldable leather handle is designed. The handles are made of high-quality leather, such as cowhide, in classic black, brown or dark red colours to match the overall style. The length of the handle can be adjusted, and it is convenient for users to adjust the length of the handle according to their own needs by setting adjustable metal buckles or snap buckles. When not in use, the handle can be folded up and attached to the top of the thermos cup, which hardly takes up space; When you need to carry it by hand, unfold the handle and adjust it to the right length, so that you can easily carry the thermos mug on the go.
Non-slip bottom design: At the bottom of the thermos cup, that is, the circular base part of the simulated Boshan furnace base, a circle of anti-slip rubber pads is set.
Layered area design: Use a layered design in the small detachable cup that comes with the thermos cup. Divide the cup into two parts. The upper layer is narrower as an area for sugar and cups, and the lower layer is wider as a cup, and when drinking water and tea, pour the liquid in the thermos cup into a small cup to drink.
Xiaoyu：
According to the target user wants to make a beautiful thermos cup with Chinese characteristics, the first sketch is designed.
The main material of the cup on the sketch is ceramic, and the overall color is blue and white. The middle cup sleeve has a drawing of the Great Wall of China. The ceramic and the Great Wall have Chinese characteristics, and the cup sleeve can be made of artificial leather.
Yanping：
Appearance features: Since the client is interested in Chinese porcelain, the insulated cup takes the shape of Chinese porcelain, which looks different from the conventional insulated cup that is usually cylindrical. The patterns are also arranged in a two-dimensional and four-dimensional continuous pattern similar to the blue and white porcelain (I’m sorry I didn’t show it in this sketch, it’s hard to depict in this sketch.)
Functional innovation: The lid of the cup can not only function as a lid, but it can also be inverted while drinking to become a delicate drinking cup, meeting the client’s frustration of not being able to take a beautiful insulated cup out.
Material selection: The client has insulation needs, and ceramic material can also provide good insulation, and is easy to clean, making it convenient for the client to use.
