Target User: Fuyuan's mother's father (user number 3) is very accustomed to wearing reading glasses, likely due to his past as a teacher. He uses them regularly for reading books, newspapers, messages on his phone, writing, and drawing. His glasses are always placed securely on a table or in a refined, coffee-colored case. The glasses he owns for now, themselves have a silver-gray frame with coffee-colored temples, combining style with practicality in his everyday routine. --------------- Easy-to-Find Glasses with Audible Alert Glow-in-the-dark frames: Drawing from his habit of placing glasses securely, glow-in-the-dark frames are ideal for ensuring he can quickly find his glasses, even in a dim room. As he tends to leave his glasses in the same spot, this feature would help him locate them in darker environments without stress.Audible locator system: To add convenience for someone organized like him, an audible locator triggered by a remote or app can be integrated. Since he values order, a wireless locator connected to different rooms would allow him to locate misplaced glasses quickly without disrupting his routine.Comfort: He spends long periods reading and drawing, so silicone nose pads and ear hooks are designed to provide long-term comfort without leaving marks, ideal for his lifestyle.Blue light protection: As he uses his phone and reads regularly, blue light protection can prevent eye strain and enhance his overall reading experience. Design Concept: Considering his taste for refined objects like his coffee-colored glasses case, the minimalistic design of GlowFind aligns with his aesthetic preferences, combining elegance with functionality. The audible locator should be non-intrusive and compatible with his home setup. The frames can have classic colors like silver gray or coffee brown, similar to his current glasses style, ensuring a seamless integration into his routine. Positioning Stand with Charging and Storage Integrated stand with charging: Since Fuyuan’s grandfather places his glasses securely on a table, this concept would provide a designated place for his glasses, reducing the chance of misplacement. An integrated charging function supports smart zoom or other technology his glasses might include in the future.Carrying case integration: A detachable carrying case would be a perfect fit for his organizational habits. This ensures he can easily take the glasses with him when leaving the house while keeping them protected in the same way he values his current eyeglass case.Positioning memory: An app or Bluetooth integration can record the last location of the glasses, which might be useful in moments of forgetfulness, although his careful nature may reduce the need for this feature.Comfort: The soft-touch silicone material would provide a comfortable fit during extended use, such as when he’s reading or drawing, allowing him to wear the glasses for long periods without discomfort. Design Concept: The stand design can match the elegant, classic style that appeals to him—offered in finishes like dark wood or metallic tones that align with his personal preferences. The stand also provides an optimal angle for storage, reducing the risk of accidental damage to the frames or lenses. The magnetic carrying…

UPDATED DESIGN BRIEF

UPDATES ARE GIVEN AT THE BOTTOM BRIEF: For our project, we are seeking a smart “planter/plant pot” design that enriches the daily lives of elderly individuals and carries cultural significance. The planter should monitor the plant’s health, have automatic watering capabilities, and be user-friendly, and customizable. Additionally, it should include interactive features that support elderly individuals in forming emotional connections with plants and maintaining this ritual. Intended Users: Grandparents. (Our primary users are grandparents, specifically individuals aged 60 and above. This age group encompasses diverse lifestyles, from those living independently to those sharing a home with family members.) Target Market: 60+ Elderly Individuals.Note: We aim to cater to a broad spectrum of elderly users, with a focus on those who live alone, elderly couples, and those living with their families, in that order. We place great emphasis on the well-being of elderly individuals, particularly those with memory impairments such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. Recognizing their need for companionship and communication, we aim to develop products that not only assist with daily tasks but also offer emotional support through a connection with plants. Many elderly people enjoy talking to their plants, and our plant system can enhance this experience by providing gentle reminders for care and even self-watering when necessary. This reduces the anxiety of forgetfulness while offering a comforting presence they can interact with. By fostering this interaction, we aim to make plant care a soothing and enjoyable routine that brings comfort and joy. Whether living alone, with a partner, or in a family setting, plants become a source of emotional connection, giving elderly individuals a sense of purpose and companionship. Our goal is to strengthen this bond by ensuring plant care is easy and accessible, allowing them to enjoy the benefits without physical strain or worry. Our approach ensures that each user group is supported in maintaining their independence, nurturing their routines, and celebrating the small joys of life, whether through interaction with family or personal activities. EXPECTED FORM: We’re excited to see the development of the application unfold, and we look forward to viewing sketches and 3D models of the concepts as they take shape, before the main prototype (The prototype at the end might be in the scale of 1/2 or 1/1) is done. It’s important to us to visually follow the creative journey and see the ideas come to life! PROBLEM DEFINITION: The goal is to design a smart planter that enriches the daily lives of elderly individuals and carries cultural significance. This planter should have an aesthetic and customizable structure; it should reflect the cultural sentiment that elderly individuals would want to have in their homes, adopting a maximalist design philosophy. Function: The planter could be equipped with sunlight and moisture sensors, allowing it to monitor the health of the plant. Additionally, it could be able to provide status notifications through voice prompts, making it easier for users to receive information about their plants. The product should not take up much space, be lightweight and portable, and be made from durable materials to withstand drops. It…
