Hello Team 2!
We have been working on our concept and exploring ways to further improve the YAO BOX, since we believe it already aligns well with user needs. Our focus has been on refining the points that could enhance usability, comfort, and overall experience for elderly users.
Some of the improvements we are considering include enlarging the screen and developing a more intuitive UI (we are working on a UI prototype). This involves using a larger font and adjustable brightness, as well as implementing a simplified interaction system with a single confirmation button. We also plan to define the battery life and incorporate a low-battery alert to ensure reliable functioning.
For nighttime use, we are exploring the use of warm, low-intensity LEDs along with a light sensor, so the illumination adjusts automatically and avoids disturbing the user’s sleep.
In terms of ergonomics and maintenance, we are considering a length-adjustable lanyard, and using easy-to-clean, food-grade PP for the inner compartments. These compartments would be designed with no dead angles and be fully detachable for cleaning (with the screen module excluded).
To ensure safe organization of different types of medication, we are also evaluating the idea of color-coded compartments with clear labels to distinguish between Western medicine and Chinese patent medicine.
Functionally, the YAO BOX will maintain its modular and customizable internal layout, allowing users to adjust compartments for different doses and schedules. The combination of the smart reminder system (screen + future LED indicator) helps prevent missed doses, while the detachable health-focused accessories, such as the L-shaped massage piece and beaded elastic strap, add additional value by integrating medication management with physical well-being.
SKETCH

3D MODEL
As we mentioned before, we have been focusing on improving the product and taking your feedback into account. We still need to polish it further, but we have created a quick 3D model to give you an idea of the final dimensions.

We will update with the final 3D model as soon as we are finished with it.
RENDER
We are actively working on polishing the interface, finalizing the pill alarm display, and refining various other features. In the meantime, here is the fundamental concept.

BOM Drawing and dimensions
The separators for the pill box are in the process of being made.

Key Dimensions for Enclosure
| Feature | Dimension | Notes |
| Overall Length (L) | 140 mm | Long side |
| Overall Width (W) | 90 mm | Short side/Depth |
| Overall Height (H) | 50 mm | Vertical dimension |
| Corner Radius (R) | 10mm | It can vary depending on zone |
| Wall Thickness (T) | Approx. 3 mm | – |

UI
For the UI, we plan to create a clear layout scheme that illustrates how the interface will look and function. This will include the visual structure of each screen, the font sizes, icon styles, color coding, and the simplified one-button interaction flow.
Some important aspects would be:
- How the reminder appears
- How the user confirms the dose
- How battery alerts and LED indications are presented
- How visibility adjusts depending on lighting conditions
An interface for the doctor or family member to track the elderly intake.

Physical prototype
Low-Fidelity Mockup (First Stage)
Using everyday materials such as cardboard, EVA foam, clay, string, and plastic containers, we will quickly model:
- The size and proportions
- The wearing method
- The modular compartment layout
- The massage accessories (L-shaped piece and beaded strap)
This stage will help us validate ergonomics, usability, and how the elderly might interact with the form factor before committing to more precise manufacturing.
And then if it’s necessary to do a 3D Printed Prototype.
Hi Team 16! I really appreciate the refined version of your design proposal. However, I would like to make this brief note to confirm that the final design will be produced by the client, who will also provide feedback on the user workflow and collaboration experience.
The Client Team 02, you will need to upload the 60n second promotional video how the product benefits to the user on this project blog.
You will also need to upload two feedback boards evaluating how your designers address your Client Brief and how they have commented their design process with you.
