Initial Design Concepts
Based on the needs of customers, my design concept mainly revolves around helping the elderly and young people interact and communicate better. Through the form of games, it can not only alleviate the loneliness of the elderly, but also exercise the problems of the elderly's slow response. Therefore, the designed products mainly highlight interactivity. Allowing seniors to have fun with young people in an easy way. 1.Resistance Training Loop Two people hold the anti-slip grips on both sides of the circulator, and adjust the resistance through the knob according to their own situation. Turn on the Bluetooth of your mobile phone, connect the device and start it.Two people can slowly stretch the circulator in opposite directions, the pressure sensor will record the rhythm of both parties' efforts, the APP voice prompt "keep in sync", and the light turns green for the best state. Rings can be utilized for stretching and simple strength training. The heart rate monitoring module will display the status of both parties in real time to avoid overwork. 2.Grip Ball Hold the grip ball tightly, the LED screen will display the grip strength values of both sides in real time, and the green light is always on to represent balanced force; If one side exerts too much force, the red light on the corresponding side flashes, and the strength can be adjusted in time. You can carry out endurance challenge, set a fixed grip strength value, and two people maintain this strength. The longer you persist, the higher the score, which is suitable for daily hand endurance exercise of the elderly. At the same time, protruding dots can be arranged on the surface of the small ball, and acupuncture points of the hand can be massaged by holding it. It is beneficial to the training of hand strength of the elderly. 3.Rhythm Clapping Game Two wear gloves and rhythm watches respectively. Connect to the mobile phone to play the favorite songs of the elderly, and the rhythm watch sensor prompts the timing of clapping through vibration. Two people clap their hands according to the prompt, and the lights on the gloves will change color with the synchronization rate of the action (for example: green is high synchronization rate, yellow is medium, and red is low synchronization rate). The elderly and young people can improve their tacit understanding through games, and they can also cultivate the reaction ability of the elderly. You can also set the two-player PK mode, one person takes the rhythm and the other imitates it. The one with higher similarity scores higher, and the one with higher scores wins.
Game Event
To address the generation gap between young people and the elderly, we will offer three game activities to help narrow this gap and enhance the bond between the two generations. 1.Ancient and Modern Collision Puzzle The puzzle is clearly divided into an "elderly-only area" and a "young-only area", connected by "connecting pieces" in the middle. The process of piecing it together not only presents their respective cultures but also serves as a process of two-way integrated narration, which is more likely to stimulate the desire for intergenerational communication. Partition division: The left half (elderly area, 200 pieces), the right half (young people area, 200 pieces), and the middle connecting area (100 pieces). Elements of the elderly area tiles: Urban street scenes from the 1950s to 1970s, old-fashioned trams, retro shop signs (such as old bakeries, vinyl record stores), traditional newsstands, and popular clothing styles of the elderly from that era (such as European retro trench coats, American workwear). Elements of the young people area tiles: Current urban street scenes, new energy vehicles, internet-famous coffee shop signs, mobile payment QR code logos, and trendy clothing styles of young people (such as street fashion brands, clothing made of environmentally friendly materials). Elements of the connecting area tiles: Old trams and new energy vehicles running side by side, retro shops adjacent to internet-famous stores, grandparents and grandchildren holding hands walking around the corner (wearing clothes from their respective eras), and shared power bank devices next to old newsstands. Splicing narrative: When the elderly are putting together the left half, they can share memories such as "taking the tram to work back in the day" and "buying newspapers at the newsstand"; when young people are putting together the right half, they can explain things like "now we rely on mobile payment when going out" and "the design concept of internet-famous stores"; when putting together the connecting area, they can discuss together "the city has changed, but the vitality of life remains the same". The finished picture completely presents "the flow of time in the city". 2.Intergenerational Bridge Dice A lightweight board game for 2-4 players. It uses dice to trigger "cultural sharing + simple interaction," helping foreign elderly people and young people easily chat about culture, shorten the distance between them, and the entire process takes 15-20 minutes. Game Components (Ultra-Simplified) One 6-sided die (marked: Elder's Story, Youth Trends, Imitation Challenge, Mutual Q&A, Shared Memories, Blessing Moment) 40 topic cards (2 categories, text-image combination, minimal text): Elder Cards (20): e.g., "Your favorite song when you were young", "Traditional festivals in your hometown" Youth Cards (20): e.g., "Common social media memes", "Favorite leisure activities" 10 "Empathy Stickers" (1 sticker per completed interaction; 3 stickers to win) Game Rules (3 Simple Steps) After completing the sharing/interaction (imitation, Q&A, blessing), both parties get 1 sticker. Players with 3 stickers become "Cross-Generation Friends". At the end of the game, everyone says one "new discovery today" together. Players sit in a circle (must mix elders and young people), take…
