Initial Design Concepts ——Sun Xue

Option 1: This product aims to build a bridge between the elderly and young people. Both generations can use it to record their food recipes and opinions on these cooking methods. Since young people cannot be with the elderly anytime and anywhere, a product that connects the two generations through food and cooking habits becomes particularly important.

Option 2: Elderly people want to join in the joy of cooking with their families, so they are unwilling to just wait for meals to be served. They also have unique insights into food preparation and are eager to participate in the cooking process. However, many existing products are not elderly-friendly. Therefore, I have designed a knife specifically for the elderly, allowing them to grip it more securely for cutting ingredients and fully enjoy the time of cooking with their families.

Option 3: As the elderly age, their eyesight tends to decline. Therefore, I have designed a unique recipe book that comes with a dedicated pen. The pen can loudly convey the recipe content to the elderly, so they don’t need to strain to read the text and only need to listen. Additionally, the recipe book allows young people to add their comments on the dishes, enabling better communication between the elderly and young generations.

Hi Sun, we have analyzed your proposals, they are all beautiful and innovative, very technological however we cannot choose them because they do not completely solve the problem we have posed you, that is, the union between tradition and modern times.
    Thank you

Hi, I’m Miriam from Group 25.
Your design concepts are thoughtful and clearly focused on bridging the gap between generations through cooking. I really like how each idea addresses specific needs of the elderly while promoting interaction with young people.
Option 1: Connecting generations through shared recipes and cooking experiences is a lovely idea. It makes communication meaningful even when young people cannot be physically present.
Option 2: The elderly-friendly knife is very practical. It allows seniors to participate safely and confidently in cooking, which is both empowering and engaging.
Option 3: The talking recipe book with a dedicated pen is clever and inclusive. It accommodates declining eyesight while still letting the elderly interact with young people’s comments, enhancing shared experiences.
Overall, your designs are thoughtful, interactive, and centered on enhancing both independence and connection. Excellent work!
