Why are these design concepts practical?
How do they address the Client Brief?
Erik
The practicality is actually very simple because the customer required in the briefing that the seat should have a sunshade function, so I added a sunsh design to my design sketch. However, I saw the explanation and description of other excellent group members about the sketch, so I am going to learn from them and modify my sketch design

Here, I want to supplement my sketch design. Firstly, the requirement in my client’s brief is to design a bench with sunade function, which can complete the functions of rest and social interaction. Based on this requirement, I designed a sunshade device for each bench in my design. Moreover, according the client’s request, social interaction is often carried out by two to three people, so my bench is designed to be large enough to accommodate two to three people. On this, since the target group is not just one person, I designed a variety of styles of benches.
1. For the first bench, I highlighted the minimalist style design, the user’s body with a natural and smooth linear design. It is suitable for those who love the concise style.
2. The second bench is designed as a wooden bench the elderly generally prefer wooden materials, which can give people a gentle and introverted feeling. Just imagine the warm color formed by the reflection of the setting sun on the wooden bench, is so suitable for social interaction of two to three people.
3. For the third bench, I designed it in a retro style and added European elements, such as the design the backrest and the sunshade canopy. I think Italian elderly people in Europe must be familiar with and fond of European retro designs.
The above is my sketch design, you for my client’s brief is so detailed, thank you for the guidance of Professor Erik!
Hey guys! my team and i just took a look at your project and it looks really interesting. The benches seem to be a good job and we love your banner!
Good work!
Really cool guys!
The project demonstrates a strong sensitivity in addressing both functional and social needs through three different types of benches. The attention to materials, style, and user target shows a thoughtful consideration of the context of use. The integration of a sunshade function is particularly interesting, as it is often overlooked in urban furniture design but essential for comfort, especially for elderly users. Overall, the variety of proposed designs makes the concept versatile and potentially suitable for different urban or community settings.

I really liked the shading feature — it’s a small detail that makes a big difference for comfort, especially for older users. The variety of designs makes the concept flexible and adaptable to different community spaces.
