Helloooo! I am Ezgi Semerci, a fourth-year Industrial Design student at Middle East Technical University. My name is Turkish Ezgi, from Greek \u03bc\u03b5\u03bb\u1ff3\u03b4\u03af\u03b1 (mel\u014did\u00eda) meaning ‘singing, chanting’<\/em>. Although my name is related to music, unfortunately music is not a field that interests me very much. In my daily life, I am a very cheerful, energetic and smiling person. For the first week after I was born, my family still couldn’t decide on my name and I was a nameless baby for a week. On March 25, 2002, I was born in Bursa which city is close to the Istanbul. It is a very beautiful city by the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The digital world has always been an area that has affected me a lot. I love playing Playstation and computer games. My favorite game is The Last of Us, but I also like horror and decision-making games like Until Down, Hacketts Quarry and Detroit, and their graphics inspire me. Design is like a game for me where I play with pleasure, make decisions and affect the rest of the way. I love it, have a lot of fun and think a lot. I managed to spread it to the rest of my life and looking at the world through a designer’s eyes every moment is as enjoyable as playing a perfect game for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I really enjoy making designer desserts. I even have a Tiktok account where I record all the processes!! You can access my videos by searching zgsmrc<\/em> on Tiktok and I can give you the recipes if you want. I think when design and the food sector come together, a completely different art emerges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though I can’t read as often as I used to, I still love reading books. World classics are my favorite genre to read. One of the books that has impressed me the most and that I have read in one go so far is Dostoyevsky’s Gambler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love being at school and dealing with design, I don’t want my education to end, I feel like I can be engaged in design education forever. I am thinking of continuing my design education in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the projects I have done so far and that makes me proud is my cell design called Rosy Shield<\/em>, which will make it easier to control forest fires. We developed it together with an environmental engineer friend and we hope it will be used in the future! Meeting people from different perspectives and different sectors and developing projects helps me refresh my brain and broadens my perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
