Hello guys 😊,

I am Berfu, I am 24 years old. I am studying Industrial Design at “ODTÜ” (METU in English, Middle East Technical University) in Ankara, the capital of “Türkiye”. I like to write the names of my country and university in Turkish because I like the words themselves and the letter “ü”.

The best experience I had at ODTÜ is that its roads, trees, birds, architecture and everything that you can see, hear or feel. It is the whole package. I like how my dorm is in the campus and how it is looking towards to ODTÜ’s forest. The campus is in the city center, however because it is guarded, I feel calm and free here. I love walking to classes and just being present.

Though I live in ODTÜ now, actually, I’m from İstanbul and there is a saying that my father likes to say humorously “Ankara’nın en güzel yanı İstanbul’a dönüşüdür.”. Which means: “The best part of Ankara is its return to Istanbul.”. Yet, I don’t feel that way. Sorry dad : )

For me, life is meaningful when I get to spent time with myself and with my close friends. However, that is a bit cheating because I have so wonderful friends that when I am with them I feel like I am with myself more than ever.

Also, I really like to transform the essential things we have to do as humans to pleasant times of the day. So, as you can imagine, I love creating a menu, shopping for it, cooking and -of course- eating and sharing. I like cleaning because when you clean a place throughfully it feels like yours and it feels like home. Because “What was love? Love was labor.” (“Sevgi neydi? Sevgi emekti.”). I love this quote, it is from the old movie “Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım”. I love old Turkish movies and this one is my favourite. The movie questions love and its forms, what love means. Hi everyone!

I am Mehmet Aflazi from Turkey. I was born in Hatay, which is a city full of history and peace. Currently, I am a third-year Industrial Design student at Middle East Technical University in Ankara / Turkey.

In this major, I like to play with shapes, colors, and materials to solve problems and see how people are engaging with them. The thing that I love in the design area is that there is no final path or an end. Therefore, one can always come up with original solutions and ideas.

On campus, I stay in my dormitory. I attend the Voice Acting Society in our school. There, I design posters, posts and also attend some voice acting activities! In my free time, I also enjoy visiting natural and/or historical places in the city I live. For example, I really enjoy visiting the museums of my hometown, Hatay which are full of Roman art.

In the future, I know that I want to keep trying and learning more about design. This is why I am planning to get a master’s degree in the design area. And I will be open to any adventures that can keep me enjoying design!
